"Ever been at one of those parties – maybe around Halloween, maybe around a summertime campfire – when people start sharing their true-life stories of the supernatural?

The tone of the evening changes. As the night goes on, the shadows seem to grow darker. You find yourself jumping at every noise. And once the conversation gets going, you realize… almost everyone has a story.

We want to hear yours.

Ghosts. Ouija board sessions gone wrong. Weird family secrets. UFOs. All manner of cryptids, mysteries, and things that go bump in the night.

Sometimes they seem to have a mundane explanation….
Yeah, we don’t want those stories."

WHAT IS THIS???
A pre-recorded audio program of people sharing their true-life stories of the unexplained, which will be livestreamed on Saturday, October 24 at 8:00 PM for a “virtual campfire” listening party on Facebook. After this Facebook Live event, the program will be made available for free download. Voluntary donations will be encouraged throughout the livestream and on the download page, but no fee will be charged to listen or participate.

An online vote for Best Story will be held following the livestream. The winner will receive a four-pack of tickets for any future RISE production AND a $25 Chelo’s Gift Card!

Cost to participants: Nothing
How to share a story:

  1. Record it in any format - mp3, voice memo, etc. Videos are fine, too! We will only use the audio!
  2. Upload the file on our website at www.ristage.org, or email it to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
  3. OR, if people prefer a listener/interviewer, we’re happy to set up a phone call and record it for them!

GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPANTS:
1. There is no need to “act” or perform your story, or to gussy it up with spooky sound effects, etc. Just tell it straight, as if sharing it with friends.
2. First-hand accounts are preferred. Second-hand accounts are fine, if you have the subject’s permission. Beyond that, we’re into urban legend territory.
3. The story must be true, and must deal with something “unexplained.” There are certainly plenty of earthly horrors in this world, but we’re looking for the weird stuff.
4. Start by introducing yourself by name.
5. Try to keep the language PG (if not, we may bleep).
6. If you want to run your story by us to see if it is a good fit, or to set up a recorded interview, email Chris at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.!

An Arizona grand jury is indicting the 11 "fake electors" who were backing then-President Trump in 2020. A month after the election, the 11 people got together at the state's GOP headquarters to sign a certificate claiming to be Arizona's 11 electors to the Electoral College, although Biden had won by thousands of votes. His electors were also certified by state officials.        The Supreme Court will hear arguments Thursday on Donald Trump's claim he has absolute immunity on charges of attempting to overturn the 2020 election. The outcome could determine whether Trump faces a federal trial this year on four felony counts brought by special counsel Jack Smith, which include conspiracy to defraud the U.S. and obstruction of an official proceeding. Trump's legal team argues the former president should have absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for any official acts taken while in office.        House Speaker Mike Johnson is demanding the president of Columbia University resign unless she reigns in anti-semitic protests. Speaking on the campus steps of the New York school with other GOP lawmakers, Johnson said no Jewish student should have to live in fear. His comments come as pro-Palestinian protests continue against Israel's war with Hamas.        The Biden Administration says it aims to cut freight emissions in the U.S. to zero. On Wednesday, officials laid out their goal to cut down harmful emissions from freight shipping. The White House says they hope to reach net-zero emissions in the transportation sector, and the entire U.S. economy, by 2050.        A new report can tell you if you're still earning enough to be considered middle class. Finance site SmartAsset analyzed data from the U.S. Census Bureau and the Pew Research Center to determine the middle class salary range in all 50 states. The national middle class salary range is 49-thousand-271-dollars to 147-thousand-828-dollars.        The MTV Video Music Awards are returning to New York. For the first time since 2021, the show will be back in New York and this time it will take place on Long Island at the UBS Arena in Elmont. It's the first for the arena and the show is set for September 10th. UBS Arena is the sixth New York arena to host the awards show.
