Town of North Smithfield

July 23, 2021

The Halliwell Review Committee invites the North Smithfield residents to participate in a public charette to discuss ideas and the future of the Halliwell School Property on July 24, 2021.

The morning will begin at the property at 358 Victory Highway at 9 AM. We will then transition to the North Smithfield Middle School Cafeteria at 10 AM.

What is a charette?

A charette is a design meeting where all stakeholders openly discuss and collaborate to create a program, understand goals and desires, solicit feedback from all, and to help build community consensus.

We hope to see you all there!

Former President Trump's criminal trial in New York resumes with another day of jury selection. As of now, seven jurors have been chosen. A panel of 12 along with six alternates must ultimately be selected. Trump stands accused of falsifying business records in order to cover up payments allegedly made to an adult film star just prior to the 2016 election.        Arizona's Civil War-era near-total abortion ban is on the books. The state's House did not repeal the law on Wednesday following attempts by Democratic lawmakers to do so. At the moment, the earliest the ban could be enforced is early June.       After a widespread 911 outage was reported in a number of states on Wednesday, things are getting back to normal. Authorities say residents in parts of Nebraska, Nevada, South Dakota and Texas were unable to call the number. No word on what led to the widespread failure.       More than two dozen Google employees have reportedly been fired following sit-in protests over a project involving the company and the Israeli government. The tech news website The Verge says it obtained an internal memo from Google's head of global security saying a number of employees "took over office spaces, defaced our property, and physically impeded the work" of others.       The White House is praising the U.S. Senate for dismissing two articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. A White House spokesperson said Wednesday that the Senate has "rightly voted down this baseless impeachment that even conservative legal scholars said was unconstitutional."       New Orleans Saints fandom is now visible at the Vatican. The team says Saints owner Gayle Benson gave Pope Francis a customized New Orleans Saints jersey during an audience earlier this week.
