          10:30 Gary Hylander will be continuing his Treason Season lecture with a discussion about Alger Hiss. Alger Hiss was convicted for treason during the early 50’s. The prosecuting attorney was Richard Nixon.   This was the court case that brought Mr. Nixon to national prominence. This should be a very interesting discussion for all. No Fee

 

Tuesday, August 8 at 1:00 we will reprise our FEEL GOOD BINGO. For those of you who played with us before, you’ll remember the fun and laughter that we shared. The program is free. Participants must sign up at the front desk. Let’s have some fun together with this different form of Bingo. Free.

 

Tuesday August 8  at 6:30pm – Zentangle  The art of coloring- Learn the art of Zentangle, a method of drawing and coloring that also provides relaxation and stress reduction. $10 per session.

              We start our Lifelong Learning Program, THE RHYTHMS OF THE ORCHESTRA. This program will have a professional musician come to the Center and perform a musical piece that was written with that instrument in mind. The performer will explain how the instrument was developed and why and how long it has been included in orchestras and bands. The cost for this program is $5.00 per session.

All participants are asked to sign up at the front desk and pay no later than August 4. Free!

 Our annual BLUEBERRY FESTIVAL. Todd Theriault will provide songs and stories and entertain the participants along with performing  age old songs on the piano. The fee for this program is $4.00. Register at the front desk no later than Friday, August 11

Norfolk County Sheriff Michael G. Bellotti’s Youth Camp Tour- We will visit the Youth Leadership Academy in Braintree. This week long program is for 10 to 14 year olds from Norfolk County,  which features a rope course that helps these young people develop good decision making skills. Seniors will also be given a tour of the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Public Safety Complex. Transportation provided. No fee

              A concert featuring Susan and Martin will be offered. They do a variety of songs from the 1940’s to today. They come very highly recommended. Every Senior Center who has had them come has now been inviting them back each year. As usual, the cost of this program is a donation of durable goods for the food pantry. Free

Selectmen’s Annual BBQ – Please join Town Administrator Dennis  Fraine and the Board of Selectmen for their annual summer BBQ here at the Senior Center. This event is free. All Bellingham Seniors are welcome!

 

Every Tuesday at 4:30 – Get Healthy Program- An ongoing program that addresses balance, exercise, nutrition and Stress Management.  The program can also help you to feel healthy and reduce your risk of falling. Taught by licensed Mental Health Counselor Jeanne Donnelly, with almost 40 years of teaching many forms of exercise. $5 for Seniors 65+, $10 for those under 65.

 

Tuesday, August 17 –The Best of Maine Lobster Bake Tour. 

This great round trip visit to Maine includes a visit to the “When Pigs Fly Bakery” company store in Kittery. An amazing place with over 25+ varieties of breads, as well as many types of jams and jellies. Lunch will be at the “Clambake Restaurant” in Scarborough,  which will include Lobster, Haddock, or Baked Chicken. The lunch will also include chowder, corn, steamers, salad and dessert. $88 pp.

Saturday November 25 – 9:00 to 3:00 pm . Don’t forget our annual Craft Fair! All vendors and artists are encouraged to reserve a table as soon as possible. This is a wonderful opportunity for newcomers, as well as previous participants to display your talents and wares. Vendor fee has been set at $25 per table.
