The end of the growing season is the time to prepare the growing beds, perennials, lawn and trees for the rigors of winter; to do any fall planting; and to prepare for spring. In this talk we’ll cover what to do to prepare the ground and plants for winter, and spring.

Longtime Trump adviser Steve Bannon is being held in contempt of Congress. House Democrats crafted the contempt resolution after Bannon defied a subpoena from the committee investigating the January 6th attack on the Capitol. The resolution will be referred to the Justice Department after Republican leaders urged a no vote, calling it a partisan political exercise.       Texas is urging the Supreme Court to leave its restrictive new abortion law in place. The Biden administration wants to block the ban on abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected. In a response filed today, the Texas Attorney General's office points to the Fifth Circuit's conclusion that Texas is likely to prevail.       Much of the country is looking at a warmer than average winter. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's forecast says the warmer weather outlook is especially true across the Southwest and southern U.S. Meantime, the Pacific Northwest is projected to deal with temperatures that are below normal.        Olympic gymnast Simone Biles is teaming up with a mental health services company that makes getting help more accessible. As Cerebral's Chief Impact Officer, Biles says everyone's mental health journey is unique and she wants to help others. Cerebral is a one stop shop online platform that offers resources to counseling, therapy, medication and other treatment services.       Wall Street is closing with stocks mixed as the S&P 500 finished at a record high as it was boosted by strong earnings reports. Jobless claims also fell to a new pandemic low, coming in at 290-thousand. At the closing bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by six points to 35-603. The S&P 500 gained 13 points to 45-49 and the Nasdaq added 94 points to 15-215.       The jury selection process in the Ghislaine [[ GHEE-lane ]] Maxwell case will not be kept from the public. The judge cited the First Amendment to the Constitution in ruling that the press and public would be able to see jurors questioned. Maxwell is accused of contributing to the abuse of multiple young girls by the late Jeffrey Epstein.
