Recent Arrest:

 

On 7/20/2017 at approximately 8:49pm officers of the North Smithfield Patrol Division responded to a single car motor vehicle accident located at 112 Greenville Road.    A motor vehicle that was allegedly operated by Mr. Christian Morales left the lane of travel while traveling west on Greenville Road, then collided with a parked pick-up truck parked in front of 112 Greenville Road.   Immediately after the collision Morales was observed outside his vehicle leaning against the driver side door.   A witness who heard the accident came to his aid and asked if he needed medical attention, he declined, and started walking away eastbound on Greenville Road.    Responding units made contact with Morales as he was leaving the scene of the accident and determined that he was under the influence of alcohol.   Morales agreed to and failed all standardized field sobriety tests and agreed to take a preliminary breath test on scene, which registered a reading of .248 blood alcohol content.

 

Morales was taken into custody, brought to headquarters’ where he refused to take a chemical test.  Morales was then charged with Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol 3rd Offence (Felony), Operating a Motor Vehicle on a suspended license (which was suspended for a DUI he was charged with in January 2017)(Felony), and refusing to take a chemical test 2nd offense, which is a misdemeanor.     Morales appeared before the Justice of the Peace on Sunday transported to ACI were he was held until Monday morning.   He was arraigned in 3rd District Court, Monday morning and plead not guilty.    He was held without bail for being a potential violator of District Court bail on two cases, one a DUI arrest originating from a Woonsocket PD and two on a disorderly conduct, willful trespass and resisting arrest originating our of Lincoln PD.     He was held on $10,000 surety bail on the current charges and Morales’s next appearance will be for a violation hearing which will be held on August 7th at 3rd District Court Kent County Courthouse.
