Rubbish and Recycling Holiday Pickup Schedule

 

In the observance of Martin Luther King Day on Monday, January 17th, there will be no trash or recycling collection.

 

Trash and recycling collection pick-up for the week of January 17th to January 21st will be delayed by one day.

 

Never place bagged recyclables in your recycling carts. Those plastic bags can be returned to many big-box retailers or to the Woonsocket Recycle Facility (943 River Street) for proper recycling. 

 

Extra recycling may also be brought to the Woonsocket Recycle Facility located at

943 River Street. 

Nine people are recovering after a mass shooting near a Florida beach on Memorial Day. The incident happened in Hollywood, where local officials say four of the victims are juveniles. Most of those injured are stable. The shooting stemmed from an altercation between two groups, according to authorities. One person of interest has been detained and another is still at large.        President Biden says there's no reason a debt ceiling deal can't passed by June 5th. A bill needs to be passed by that day to raise the debt ceiling or lawmakers risk defaulting on the nation's debt. Speaking to reporters outside the White House, Biden said the deal agreed to by his administration and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is a bi-partisan deal.       An Iowa apartment complex that partially collapsed Sunday night will be demolished today. Eight people were rescued, and an unknown number were injured after the historic six-story building in Davenport partially collapsed. Davenport Mayor Mike Matson said K-9 search units left the scene Monday afternoon after working through the night looking for survivors.       Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is set to head out on his first presidential campaign tour this week. DeSantis formally entered the race for the White House last week. He is expected to visit a dozen cities throughout Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.       California's rivers, streams and creeks are running fast and high. Officials with the U.S. Geological Survey says this year's historic snowpack means epic amounts of water flowing through the waterways. USGS data shows around 40-percent of roughly 500 stream flows across the state are running above normal. With peak snow melt expected in the coming weeks, officials are warning of dangerously fast flows and potential flooding.       Migration is sending sharks into the waters off Long Island and New Jersey. Four Great White male sharks have been detected this month near Long Island's South Shore and New Jersey. The sharks are making their annual migration from the Florida Keys. According to shark researchers at OCEARCH [[ Oh-search ]], the sharks are heading north for the rich feeding grounds this season.
