Providence VA Healthcare System celebrates VA’s inaugural Health Professions Education Week

 

Providence, RI — The Department of Veterans Affairs, which provides the largest training platform for health care professionals in the country, launches its inaugural Health Professions Education Week, March 14-18, to highlight the critical roles of health professions trainees and VA’s academic affiliates.

The VA Providence Healthcare System is affiliated with the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and is a site for physician resident training for Lifespan, Care New England, and Roger Williams Medical Center. The VA Providence Healthcare System helps to train hundreds of health professions trainees every year in internal medicine, general surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, nursing, psychiatry, and many other clinical disciplines.

VA’s vast clinical training enterprise is conducted in collaboration with more than 1,400 colleges, including 99% of the nation’s medical schools,” said Lawrence Connell, VA Providence healthcare System, Director.  “Our students frequently tell us the greatest reward of training at VA is serving our Veterans.”
