Everything’s  Connected

The Audubon Society of R.I. will be presenting the  Everything’s Connected program on Thursday August 23rd from 2-3pm at the Woonsocket Harris Public Library.

This program will introduce children to animal adaptations, food chains & animal ecosystems. There will be a turtle and worms for children to see and learn about.

The program is great for ages 5 & up with an adult caregiver.

Free tickets will be available at the Children’s desk starting Tuesday August 14th.

The CDC is changing its guidance for fully vaccinated individuals who are exposed to coronavirus. The health agency now says those who have gotten their shots should get tested three to five days after being exposed. This comes as the agency recommended vaccinated folks wear masks indoors in areas with high levels of infection.       President Biden wants Congress to extend the CDC's eviction ban as the nation deals with a spike in COVID-19 cases. The moratorium on evictions is set to expire this weekend and the Biden administration is insisting they do not have the power to extend it. The White House cited the spead of the Delta variant as a reason for the ban to be extended.       More than 200 Republican lawmakers are asking the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade. That's the landmark ruling which led to the legalization of abortion nearly 50 years ago. The Supreme Court will consider the Mississippi law in its next term, which starts in October.       Ohio Congressman Tim Ryan is calling the House Minority leader's response to the renewed House mask mandate "immature and appalling." The Democrat slammed California Republican Kevin McCarthy for using the mandate to diminish COVID-19 and "score cheap political points." Meantime, McCarthy accused the Biden administration of politicizing the CDC after it changed mask guidance this week.       A Washington, DC think tank says the poverty rate could fall below eight-percent this year. A report from the Urban Institute is projecting it'll hit seven-point-seven percent. It says stimulus checks from the federal government made a big dent in poverty.        Scarlett Johansson is taking Disney to court over the release of "Black Widow." The Wall Street Journal reported Johansson claims putting the film on Disney-plus in addition to releasing it in theaters at the same time violated her contract. She says her deal provided for an exclusive release in theaters.
