Woonsocket to Honor Veterans at Memorial Day Ceremony

WOONSOCKET, R.I.: Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt welcomes the greater Woonsocket community to join the City of Woonsocket and the United Veterans Council of Woonsocket (UVCW) in honoring those veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice this Memorial Day at a 10:30 am ceremony at the UVCW Veterans Park. Monday’s event at the park on Davidson Avenue will include a special recognition to mark the 100th anniversary of the United States’ entry into World War I.

“Woonsocket is a community that has made great contributions and sacrifices towards the protection and defense of our Country both at home and abroad,” said Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt. “This Memorial Day, we will honor the memory of those in our City who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in our nation’s armed forces. We welcome all to the beautiful United Veterans Council of Woonsocket Armed Forces Park for this special occasion.”

United Veterans Council of Woonsocket President Ernie S. Boisvert will serve as the master of ceremonies at Monday morning’s Memorial Day event. In the event of rain the ceremony will be moved to Harris Hall, located in Woonsocket City Hall at 169 Main Street, and be held at 10:30 am.
