The whistleblower complaint against President Trump did not get to Congress as fast as it should have. The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee says the national intelligence office blocked it. Adam Schiff issued a subpoena last week for the complaint which was filed late last month. It involves a promise Trump allegedly made to a foreign leader in a phone call.        The House Minority Leader is defending President Trump's delay on a gun safety plan. Kevin McCarthy said today that Trump has been meeting with both sides of the aisle for the past six weeks to find a solution. One idea was floated yesterday to expand background checks to all commercial gun sales.        There's a new push to lower prescription drug prices. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi unveiled her plan today. It calls for the government to negotiate the prices of up to 250 brand-name drugs in Medicare. It would also cap out-of-pocket costs at two-thousand dollars a year.        The governor of Texas is declaring a state of emergency as the flooding gets worse in Houston. This gives 13 counties access to state resources. Tropical Storm Imelda has caused severe property damage as it drenches the southeast. Three to five inches of rain has been falling an hour since early this morning leaving hundreds stranded and waiting for rescue.       It's day four of a strike by the United Auto Workers Union. General Motors has already shut down half of its Ontario facility due to a parts shortage. Analysts expect the other half to shut down today. Talks between the two sides may begin to go around the clock starting tonight increasing the chance for a settlement in the near future.        The sale of flavored e-cigarettes in Michigan is now against the law. The ban became effective today. Officials say the use of e-cigarettes by young people is a public health emergency and cited national health data showing a rapid increase in recent years.
