Democrats in the 2020 race are criticizing President Trump's withdrawal of U.S. troops from northern Syria. At last night's Democratic debate, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren said there shouldn't be U.S. forces in the Middle East, but that removing troops "must be done in the right way." South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg [[ BOOT-edge-edge ]] accused Trump of betraying a U.S. ally. Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard said Trump has the blood of the Kurds on his hands.       Former State Department official P. Michael McKinley is scheduled to testify today in the impeachment inquiry of President Trump. McKinley resigned as senior adviser to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo last week after decades of service. The move came amid concerns Pompeo wasn't backing diplomats caught up in the Ukraine controversy.        The House is voting to support Hong Kong's pro-democracy demonstrators by putting conditions on the city's trade status. The House voted Tuesday to approve a bill that would end Hong Kong's special trading status with the U.S. unless the State Department certifies that Chinese authorities are respecting human rights and the rule of law.        The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments today in a case involving DC area sniper Lee Boyd Malvo. The justices will hear the state of Virginia's appeal of a federal court ruling that Malvo should be re-sentenced because he was a juvenile at the time of the crimes. Malvo was 17 during the shooting rampage that killed ten people in the DC area in 2002.        A huge fire at a Northern California refinery storage facility is under control. An explosion tore through two fuel storage tanks Tuesday afternoon at NuStar Energy, north of Oakland. At least one of the tanks contained jet fuel. It took nearly eight hours to bring the fire under control. Company officials say they are looking into the possibility that a nearby earthquake contributed to the explosion.       Netflix is losing The West Wing to HBO Max. The Aaron Sorkin political drama, which ran from 1999 to 2006, is the latest loss for Netflix, which is already giving up hits like 30 Rock, The Office, Friends and Parks and Recreation to competing platforms. HBO Max is set to debut next spring.
